Urgent - anticipated call back within 1 hour - either of the following:
- patient currently located in an emergency department
- advice from consultant needed to make decision on sending patient to ED, admitting to hospital, transferring to another hospital, or discharging patient from hospital
By end of day, defined as end of ID team rounds (could be after 5-6pm depending on when complete):
- other questions related to management of specific patient, not meeting urgent criteria
- please obtain backup phone numbers in case caller not at original number
If other situation or call back not needed by end of day, but could wait until next business day:
- offer to have caller email the question to [email protected], or receive call back by next day from ID team
- please obtain backup phone numbers in case caller not at original number
