In the event that an employee does not arrive for a scheduled shift, or there is another concern requiring investigation, the following steps should be followed to manage a wellness check.
- Unit charge nurse will notify the BCH Nursing Supervisor that an employee is a “no show” for a scheduled shift.
- Unit charge nurse and/or BCH staffing coordinator will attempt to call and text the employee using numbers on file.
- If the employee does not respond to these calls within three hours from the start of the shift (10:00/22:00), the BCH Nursing Supervisor should initiate a wellness check.
- The staffing coordinator will provide the employee’s phone number and address. Unit leadership should be asked for any pertinent details (ex, known medical conditions, recent absences, etc.)
- BCH Nursing Supervisor will contact BCH Security supervisor and provide the employee’s information.
- Security will contact the local police department per the employee’s address to conduct the wellness check.
- Results or needed follow up will be provided to the BCH Nursing Supervisor.
